Team of Manipur Police and the Indian Army, in a joint operation, have arrested four persons, who are being held responsible for the murder of two youths -- Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi – who were abducted in July. The disturbing images of the slain youths – one of them a NEET aspirant – had gone viral, leading to widespread protests in the state capital Imphal. Investigation is underway.

In Manipur’s Imphal, a fake currency racket has been busted by Imphal East police, which was functioning at Urup Kangthak and Keirao villages. From the raid, the police recovered 3,790 suspected World is Yours (WY) drugs, 60 grams of heroin, 26 bundles, 89 numbers of 500 fake currency notes and 101 numbers of 500 fake currency uncut sheets. Further information on the matter is awaited. 

In Manipur's Noney district, a massive landslide which struck near a railway construction camp has resulted in the death of seven persons, and left 13 others injured. According to Home Minister Amit Shah, rescue operations are underway and National Disaster Response Force personnel are on site. Reportedly, the landslides were caused due to incessant rains, and so far, 19 persons have been rescued. 

In Manipur's Bishnupur district, police arrested one person for alleged involvement with the terror outfit Kuki National Army (KNA), on April 10. Acting on a tip off, the police were conducting searches in vehicles, when two men on a motorcycle tried to flee. Following the chase, one was apprehended and one reportedly managed to flee. A pistol was seized from his possession, reported PTI. Further details are awaited.

In front of a Gala mal Godown Telipati in Manipur's Imphal East, a powerful IED blast reportedly took place on December 29.  The incident took place at 3.30 am and no casualties were reported. The Police team and ballistic team of the Forensic Science Laboratory were sent to the site for investigation. "We scrutinized the CCTV footage and detected a man," said Khailet Lhanghal, Sub-Inspector of Police, to ANI.
