NTPC Records 21.7% Increase In Power Generation In April-June 22
NTPC group companies registered an increase of 21.7% from 85.8 BU generated in the corresponding quarter last year to 104 BU, in QFY3. On July 8, the company revealed that in June’22, generation was 34.8 BU, higher by 29.3% compared to 26.9 BU in June’21 indicating improved performance along with increased power supply demand. Notably, the NTPC thermal plant in Odisha is the highest generating thermal power plant.

Unemployment Rate In India Rises From 6.95% to 8.32%, CMIE Report
The data collected by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) revealed that India's unemployment rate has increased, around 1.5 million people have lost their job in August. According to the CMIE report, the unemployment rate has gone from 6.95% to 8.32%. K.R. Shyam Sundar, a labour economist said, "The labour market struggle will continue... a decent jobs recovery... manage to stop the third wave of the pandemic."

Land Degradation, Desertification On Rise In India: ISRO
Research by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has revealed that land degradation and desertification are on the rise in India. According to the ISRO's research, nearly 27.9% of India's lands are degraded, while 23.79% of the lands underwent desertification. ISRO also stated that PM Narendra Modi's goal of helping India restore its land by 2030 is uncertain.

Bitcoin, Ether Prices Up 3%; Continue To Be In Green
Bitcoin and Ether reached fresh highs in two months, after uncertainty over cryptocurrency rules in the United States. The prices of Bitcoin soared as much as 3.1% to $45,328, while Ether increased as much as 3.5% to $3,191. "Concerns about China’s crackdown and Elon Musk-fueled questions about Bitcoin’s energy usage", as per reports. However, experts believe that the fluctuations in the crypto market may prolong.
