Temperatures To Drop 2-3 Degrees Next Week As Heatwave In Northwest, Central India Decreases

Heatwaves abated slightly on June 10, according to India Meteorological Department, and maximum temperatures are expected to drop by two-three degrees by next week. Andaman & Nicobar Islands Brace For Cyclone Asani

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Asani approached the shores of Andaman and Nicobar Islands which brought rain and strong winds in the region. In addition, the officials have warned fishermen not to venture into the sea as the cyclonic storm is near the Archipelago. Notably, the Centre has deployed 100 personnel of the National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) and six relief camps to the Union Territory.

Delhi Rains Break 122 Year Old Record; 88.2 MM Rainfall Recorded

With 88.2 mm of rain in the first month of the year, the National capital Delhi recorded its highest rainfall in 122 years. As per data collected by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this is the highest rainfall in the capital since 1901. Earlier in 1989, Delhi had received a rainfall of 79.7 mm. On January 23, Delhi recorded nearly 70 mm of rainfall.

Cyclone 'Yaas' Likely To Make Landfall At Odisha Around May 26 Noon

According to the IMD forecasts, the Cyclone Yaas as named by Oman will likely make a landfall at the Odisha and Bengal coast around May 26 noon. With state governments already watchful over the conditions, the Indian Coast Guard have been deployed to deal with cyclone urging people to stay safe. The authorities have also requested people out in the sea to return to land as soon as possible.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry Likely To Witness More Rains From December 1

The regional office of India Meteorological Department on November 27 forecasted that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal could cause excess rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Deputy Director-General of Meteorology, Chennai, S Balachandran stated that widespread rains are expected from December 1 to 3 in the regions. Reportedly, light to moderate rains are expected for the next few days in the regions.
