In an IndiGo flight, a flyer vomited blood on board a Mumbai-Ranchi flight, after which the IndiGo flight made an emergency landing in Nagpur.  The 62-year passenger, who was suffering from chronic kidney disease and tuberculosis, died before he could be taken to a hospital. "IndiGo flight 6E 5093, operating from Mumbai to Ranchi was diverted to Nagpur due to a medical emergency on board," said IndiGo in a statement.

A SpiceJet flight travelling between Delhi-Nashik, turned midway after a malfunction in the autopilot's system of Boeing-737, on September 1. The flight, VT-SLP SpiceJet took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport, when it had to return to the airport, confirmed a SpiceJet spokesperson. Furthermore, the airlines also clarified that no passenger and cabin crew onboard suffered any injury or difficulty due to the technical snag.

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) issued guidelines for airlines, in India after a recent incident of onboard refusal to a disabled passenger. On July 22, the DCGA said, "Under the amended rule, Airline shall not refuse carriage of any person on the basis of disability and/or reduced mobility if it happens then airlines have informed the passenger with a disability in writing with the reason therein immediately".

Indian Airlines, "Jet Airways" announced new executives for the company on May 23. The appointment came days after aviation regulator DGCA granted a revalidated Air Operator Certificate, which permits commercial flight operations for the airlines. Prabh Sharan Singh, HR Jagannath, Mark Turner, and Vishesh Khanna are new executive officers. Notably, Singh will take charge on June 1, Turner on June 15, and Khanna will join in July.
