Tokyo Olympics: Indian Boxer Satish Kumar Loses In Quarterfinals

Indian heavyweight boxer Satish Kumar was ruled out of the Tokyo Olympics Men's Super Heavyweight category after losing to the three-time Asian champion and World's No.1 Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan 0-5 in the quarterfinals on August 1. So far, India has secured one medal in the 2020 Olympics in boxing. Jalolov is set to face Britain's Frazer Clarke in the semi-final.

Indian Boxers Assure Record 15 Medals At Asian Boxing Championship

Three Indian boxers- Amit Panghal, Vikas Krishan and Varinder Singh on May 26 entered the Asian Boxing Championship semi-finals. Eying Medal Tally Haul, Indian Boxers Reach Dubai For Asian Champ'ship

Seen as preparation for the Tokyo Olympics, the 19 membered Indian boxing contingent reached Dubai on May 22 to participate in the Asian Championship. Aiming to improve their last tournament medal haul, the Indian contingent with 10 women boxers includes defending champion Amit Panghal and six-time champion MC Marycom. Notably, the $400,000 prize money tournament earlier scheduled in India was shifted due to COVID-19.
