A report of the Parliament's Standing Committee on Defense on March 16 underscored that only Rs 4.78 lakh crore have been allocated for the military in 2021-22 against the projected budget of Rs 6.22 lakh crore. The Union government has authorized the three defence forces with higher financial powers to extend their weapon stocking for a 15-day intense war. Reportedly, the previous 10-I stocking level has upgraded to 15-I to tackle a two-front attack from China and Pakistan. Moreover, an expenditure of Rs 50,000 crore by the forces is expected to procure weapons and ammunition from local and foreign manufacturers.
