Odisha Celebrates 'Lanka Podi Jatra' Festival; Streets Brighten Up

Residents of Odisha took to the streets to mark the end of the 12-day 'Lanka Podi Jatra' festival on April 20. Several events from the 'Ramayana' are enacted every year, as a part of the celebrations. A local said that he loves how the celebrants dance and sing during the festivities. He also stressed on the significance of the celebrations, noting that the 'Lanka Podi Jatra' is a centuries-old festival.

Groundnut Festival Begins In Bengaluru; Visitors Wish For More Stalls

Kadalekai Parishe, also known as groundnut festival started in Bengaluru's Basavanagudi on November 29. It is a three-day festival which is celebrated to welcome the first yield of the groundnut crop. Furthermore, a BBMP official stated that it was important to maintain proper decorum with regards to Covid-19. Jaya, a visitor said, "I can see all the COVID-19 norms are being followed here. However, the festival has changed with time".

Hasanamba Festival Begins, To Go On Till Nov 6: Karnataka

The annual Hasanamba festival at the Hasanamba Temple in Karnataka's Hassan started on October 29. The festival is likely to go on till November 6, 2021. Reportedly, only elected representatives and officers were allowed to enter the temple on the first day due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, devotees are allowed to enter everyday, except the last day. Besides, the temple gates opened in the presence of officials.

Government Employees Can Now Avail Interest Free Credit of Rs 10,000 

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam announced that central government employees can avail an interest-free festival advance worth Rs 10,000. The advance money will increase consumer spending and help in balancing the economy, she added. India's First Corporate Train 'Tejas' To Restart From October 17

IRCTC is set to restart operations of corporate train 'Tejas' from October 17 citing the influx of travellers during the upcoming festive season. The train will be back on tracks after a hiatus of seven months and operate between Lucknow - New Delhi and Ahmedabad - Mumbai. All the COVID-19 safety measures will be in place. Every alternate seat will be kept vacant and thermal screening of passengers will be mandatory.

Karnataka: Dussehra to be Celebrated with Restrictions this Year

Karnataka government has decided to celebrate Dussehra in a simple manner this year, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The government has allotted Rs 10 crore for the celebrations, and the 'Jamboo Savari' will only take place in the palace premises. Kannada and Culture Minister, C T Ravi, said that they will invite five COVID warriors to inaugurate the festival. Only 19% Indians Open to Travelling During Upcoming Festive Season, Says Survey

LocalCircles, a community social media platform conducted a survey about people’s travel preferences post Covid-19, during the upcoming festive season. It has been revealed that only 19% of Indians are open to traveling in the period of October-December. The survey was conducted on 25,000 people across 239 districts. Also, those willing to travel in this period would prefer to do the bookings close to the travel dates, the survey found.
