French Fashion House Chanel Appoints Indian-Origin Leena Nair As CEO

India-origin Leea Nair has been appointed as a new global Chief Executive Officer of the French fashion house Chanel on December 14. The French company called her a ''visionary leader''. Thanking Chanel for the role, Nair said, ''It's a company that believes in the freedom of creating.'' Before joining Chanel, the 52-year-old Nair had been working with Unilever as the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) for 30 years.

Parag Agrawal To Replace Jack Dorsey As Twitter's New CEO

Twitter will reportedly appoint Parag Agrawal, who has an Indian origin, as its new CEO. Parag will take over the position in the company following the exit of its co-founder and current CEO Jack Dorsey. Parag is an IIT Mumbai alumnus and has completed PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University. He joined Twitter in 2011 and "he's been my choice for some time,'' said Dorsey.

Anita Anand Appointed As Canada's New Defence Minister; Indian-Origin

Indian-origin politician, Anita Anand has been appointed as Canada's new defence minister by the Canadian PM, Justin Trudeau. According to reports, Anita will be replacing Harjit Sajjan, who will now be serving as the minister of the international development agency. "My top priority is to make sure that everyone in the armed forces feels safe and protected, and that they have the supports that they need," she said.

Indian Descendent Arrested In London For Killing His Mother

A man of Indian descent, Shanil Patel has been arrested for allegedly murdering his mother Hansa Patil's. Reportedly, the 31-year-old accused had been presented at the Wimbledon Magistrates' Court in London on November 27. Earlier on November 25, when Hansa was reported dead with a head injury, Shanil was arrested soon at his residence in Greenford. Moreover, police have been deployed in the residential area to investigate the murder.
