Indian Railways Issues New Rules For Seating Allotment

The Indian Railways changed some rules, including the seating allotment, especially the lower berth. As per new railways rules, four seats, two bottom two middle ones, two seats in third AC, two seats in AC3 economy are reserved for the disabled in sleeper class. Also, two lower seats and two upper seats are reserved for the disabled in the Garib Rath train. New rules were taken by Railway Board.

PM Narendra Modi Flags 4th Vande Bharat Trains In Himachal Pradesh

PM Narendra Modi flagged off the fourth Vande Bharat Express train in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district, on October 13. This marks the first Vande Bharat train for the state that is set to hold assembly elections soon in 2023. With the addition of this new Vande Bharat Express, the travel between Chandigarh-Delhi will be easier, with saving three hours of time, as it runs at 100 km/h in 52 seconds.

Indian Railways Announces 179 Special Trains Amid Festival Rush

Amid festivities in India, the Indian Railways left no stone unturned in providing convenience to passengers, by adding additional trains for convenience.  On October 5, the Indian Railways announced 2,269 trips of 179 pairs of special trains.  The decision will be taken in the view of extra rush amid Navratri, Durga Puja, so that loved ones can reunite and celebrate festivals. The special trains will be run till Chhath Puja.

The Indian Railways has come up with a special menu for all travellers on the occasion of Navratri, from September 26 to October 5. The Railways Ministry made the announced over a tweet, and the food can be ordered from the ‘Food on Track’ app. The nine-day long festival of Shardiya Navratri has begun on September 26. The festival is dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine avatars.

Indian Railways To Provide Free Meals To Passengers If Train Gets Delayed For Over 2 Hours

The Indian Railways has announced to offer free meals to passengers if the train gets delayed by over two hours. The free meal will be available in veg and non-veg, and can be availed for any sort of delays. The free meals will be offered in premium trains like Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Durontos. Furthermore, IRCTC will soon set up new kitchens and improvise the existing ones.

India Signs MoU With Bangladesh To Strengthen Inter-Governmental Railway Co-Op

India and Bangladesh signed an MoU to deepen the inter-governmental railway co-operation between both the nations. Earlier on June 1, Minister of Railways of India and Bangladesh Railway Minister held a meeting to achieve a similar motive. India has also agreed to train Bangladesh Railway employees. This is has been made possible with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s recent visit to India.

World's Highest Railway Bridge On Chenab River To Be Equipped With Golden Joint

The "Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project" of Indian Railways is nearing completion of the world's highest single-arch railway bridge across the Chenab River. The bridge spans a 272-km railway line and is 359 meters high. The bridge will also have a "Golden Joint" that connects the two sides of the bridge. The golden joint will connect the two bridge segments and the bridge overarch deck using High Strength Friction Grip bolts.
