IMD Issues Heatwave Alert For Indian States
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for several states of India, amid rising temperature. In Odisha, alert has been issued till April 15, asking people not to venture out in scorching heat. India COVID-19 Cases Rises With Over 1,500 New Cases
India is continuing to record a hike in the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, with `1,590 single-day cases. On March 25, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare confirmed 1,590 new cases, with six fatalities. With this, active cases is now at 8,601 and fatalities increased to 5,30,824, with daily positivity rate at 1.33%. The Union Health Department urged people to take precautions and follow the proper guidelines of COVID-19.

IMD Issues Heavy To Very Heavy Rain Alert In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert for states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. On August 10, Wednesday, a depression, lay above Odisha, which will cause heavy to very heavy rainfall in low-lying isolated regions of Indian states. Besides the aforementioned states, regions of Tamil Nadu, Nalgonda and Karnataka are also on alert for the rainfall in the states.

Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Rajasthan Conduct Rajya Sabha Polls For 16 Seats
Four states, Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, and Rajasthan, are conducting polls for 16 Rajya Sabha seats, on June 10. The polls started at 9 am-to 4 pm, whereas the counting will begin at 5 pm. To observe smooth polling, the ECI appointed special observers and deployed security including videography of the exercise. Furthermore, approximately 57 Rajya Sabha seats were announced recently and all 41 candidates were elected unopposed.

Amit Shah Approves Rs 1,887.23 Central Assistance To 5 States
Five states Bihar (Rs 1,038.96 crore), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 21.37 crore), Rajasthan (Rs 292.51 crore), Sikkim (Rs 59.35 crore) and West Bengal (Rs 475.04 crore) received Rs 1,887.23 crores additional fund from the Central Government under the NDRF.
