India Maintains Win Streak With 100 Runs Against England

India and England locked horns today at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, where the Men in Blue emerged victorious by 100 runs. England won the toss in today’s game and chose to field. They limited India to a score of 229/9 in 50 overs. Despite a strong start by Rohit Sharma, the Indian innings were marked by frequent wicket losses, notably including Virat Kohli’s rare World Cup duck.

Indian men's hockey coach Graham Reid announced his resignation after the team's disappointing performance in the FIH World Cup 2023 in Odisha. On January 30, Graham said, "It is now time for me to step aside and hand over the reins to the next management."  Besides Graham Reid, the team's analytical coach Greg Clark and scientific advisor Mitchell David Pemberton have also submitted their resignations.

India defeated Northamptonshire by a score of 10 runs on July 3 at Northampton County Grand owing to Harshal Patel's all-around effort. Harshal Patel's brilliant 54-run effort in 36 balls helped the Indian team achieve 149 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Harshal struck three sixes and five boundaries as India compiled a competitive score in their warm-up match. Northamptonshire was bowled out for 139 runs in 19.3 overs.

India Concludes FIH Pro League, Secures 3rd Spot In Debut Season

In the FIH Pro League in Rotterdam, the Indian Women's Hockey team scored 4-0 against the USA, on June 23.  With this, the Indian Hockey team concluded their debut season, securing the third position. In the match, Vandana Katariya scored twice in the 39th and 54th minutes of the 70-minute match. India secured the third spot, whereas Argentina and Netherlands secured first and second positions, respectively.

Cricketer Harbhajan Singh announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, on December 24. The Kolkata Knight Riders' off spinner ended his 23-year-long cricket journey. "All good things come to an end and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life. My heartfelt thank you. Grateful," tweeted Singh. Notably, Harbhajan has played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs, 28 T20s, for India.

Indian women's and men's chess team won gold and silver, respectively, in the finals of the Asian Nations (Regions) Online championship on October 25.
