8 ITBP Women Troops Inducted To Train, Handle, Deploy Malinois Dogs

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has inducted eight women personnel to train, deploy and handle Malinois dogs. These dogs are specialised in protecting civilians and assisting in anti-naxal operations. Around eight three-year-old pups will now undergo various tactical training programmes with their respective women handlers. Notably, the ITBP's 90,000 personnel guard the 3,488 km-long Indo-China border.

Indo-China Border Security Budget Increased By 6 Folds: MHA

The Ministry of Home Affairs informed Lok Sabha that the budget allocated for the border security in the northeastern area, were increased by six folds in year 2021-22. The statement came after MP Dilip Saikia raised a question regarding the funds allocated for the said purpose. Reportedly, Rs 42.87 crore were allocated for the Indo-China border security in the year 2020-21. Whereas in 2021-22, Rs 249.12 crore were allocated.

India And China To Hold 15th Meeting Of Corps Commander

India and China will hold their 15th round of Corps Commander-level discussions to resolve the areas in eastern Ladakh, on March 11. “Both sides will now focus to achieve resolution of balance friction areas. Recent statements by both sides to find a mutually acceptable solution have been encouraging and positive in nature," said officials. The talks will be held on the Indian side of the Chushul-Moldo border.

China's Military Build-up In India's Himalayan Border Concerns Pentagon

Chinese Army's build up across the demarcation line in the Himalayan border has become a matter of concern for the Pentagon. Reports suggest that the line up is pretty similar to those that China builds against various nations, not just India. Reportedly, China deployed long-range strategic bombers in the area last month. China Supports India, S-Africa's Request For IPR Waiver On COVID Jabs

China on May 17 extended its support to India and South Africa by temporarily waiving the Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) for COVID-19 vaccines. The Chinese foreign ministry said China understands the situation and supports the request made to WTO. Earlier, India and South Africa had sought the same from WTO in October 2020 so that developing countries could get access to the vaccines as soon as possible.

India has topped the 2015/16 list of highly educated migrants in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries.
