Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan inaugurated the state-level 'Hunar Haat' in Bhopal on March 8. Commencing the festival with kanya pujan, CM Chauhan enquired about products and edible items prepared by women from different states. Moreover, to strengthen the women's participation, he appealed to people to buy the products sold at the haat. Besides, he released a brochure at 'Annadayi Portal' and One-Stop Center at Hunar Haat.

On the occasion of international women's day, several women MPs have debated the critical issues that gender faces in the Rajya Sabha. While Congress MP Chhaya Verma has demanded reservation for women in state Legislative Assemblies, Shiv Sena's Priyanka Chaturvedi raised a question about the pending Women Reservation Bill. Meanwhile, BJP MP Saroj Pandey maintained that active efforts were being made by the Centre for women empowerment.

Marking the International Women's Day on March 8, Google has updated its doodle that highlights women's "firsts" in history. The Archaeological Survey of India has announced a free entry offer for women in historical monuments across the nation on March 8, given International Women's Day. The order stated that the free entry at recognised 3,691 protected monuments and archaeological sites would be applicable for foreign women too. Tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel said, "On this Women's Day, we will showcase our respect to the devis.”
