Libya Floods: 6,000 Died, Others Missing, EU Sends Assistance
The European Union is to provide disaster response equipment and humanitarian funding to Libya, the European Commission said. The aid from Germany, Romania and Finland consists of “tents, field beds and blankets, 80 generators, food items, as well as hospital tents and water tanks”, the EU said. EU crisis management commission Janez Lenarcic said the bloc had also released an initial 500,000 euros ($535,000) in emergency funding.

India-US Agree To End Six Key Trade Dispute
India and the US have agreed to end six key trade disputes at the World Trade Organisation (WTO.) With this, New Delhi will also remove retaliatory customs duties on certain American products such as almonds, walnuts, and apples. Announcing this, United States Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai in a statement said that these tariff cuts will restore and expand market opportunities for traders and manufacturers.

Indian Origin Student Shot Dead In Philadelphia
A 21-year-old Indian-origin student was shot dead in Philadelphia, confirmed a local source. The deceased student was identified as Jude Chacko, and was shot by unidentified assailants while he was returning from work and was attacked with a robbery attempt. GoI Imposes New COVID-19 Rules From Today
Amid a decline in COVID-19 cases worldwide, the Government of India (GoI,) issued new guidelines for those travelling to India from abroad. As per the new rules, signing 'Air Suvidha' form and mandate of pre-departure COVID-19 test is not required for those travelling from six countries. However, the random 2% testing of international passengers and arrivals from foreign countries will be same, in effect from February 13, 11 AM.

Uzbekistan Reports 1st Case Of Omicron
The first case of Omicron variant of COVID-19 was confirmed in Uzbekistan, following which pandemic restrictions are tightened in the country, Health Ministry said on January 9. They said that the case was confirmed after a foreign citizen arrived Uzbekistan on January 7, turned infected with the variant. The country has so far registered 200,341 COVID cases and 1,494 related deaths.
