Telangana Man Calls Off Wedding Amid Old Furniture In Dowry

A Hyderabad man who works as a bus driver called off his wedding amid 'old furniture' given in the dowry. A resident of Maula Ali was scheduled to get married on February 19, but he didn't turn up and when the bride's father went to the groom's house, they misbehaved and refused to get married. The Hyderabad police registered a case against the groom and his family.

Armed Forces Can Take Disciplinary Action Against Adultery, Says SC

In a significant judgement, the Supreme Court clarified that its 2018 judgment striking down the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 497 (Adultery) will not have any impact on the court martial proceedings.  On January 31, the court said, the proceedings initiated against personnel serving in the armed forces for their adulterous conduct will be allowed as an offence. A five-judge bench, headed by Justice KM Joseph announced the decision.

UP Youths Rape Woman In Shamli, 1 Arrested

In Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, a 48-year-old woman from Haryana's Panipat was allegedly raped by two youths, confirmed police on September 13. The Shamli SP Abhishek Kumar said two youths identified as Mohan and Rahul allegedly called the woman regarding her sons and raped her. After the incident, victim's family registered a complaint, following which they arrested Mohan, whereas, Rahul is absconding. An investigation is underway.

Praveen Nettaru Murder Case: Accused’s Brother Held For Threatening Man

In the murder case of BJP leader Praveen Nettaru, the accused’s brother has been held for allegedly threatening a man, informed police. The arrested person has been identified as Abdul Safriz alias Abdul Saprith (21). A case has been registered based on the complaint given by right-wing activist Prashanth Poonja under sections 504 and 506 of IPC. Safriz is reportedly the brother of accused Shafeeq.

39-Year-Old Man Kills Bedridden Aunt Over Money Disputes

Anthony Benjamin Fernandes (39) killed his bedridden aunt Santan Bastev Fernandes (65) over a financial dispute, confirmed to police. The accused has been arrested for the alleged killing of his aunt, with whom he used to live in the same house. As per the investigation, Anthony was angry after learning that she was helping his brother to get a bank loan and in an argument murdered, and has been booked in IPC.

Telangana Leader T Raja Singh Suspended Over Prophet Mohammad Remarks

Telangana BJP leader T Raja Singh has been suspended by BJP’s central disciplinary committee over his controversial remarks on prophet Mohammad. An FIR under sections 153a, 295 and 505 of IPC has been lodged against Singh, and he has been taken into custody. The disciplinary committee also directed Singh to submit a show cause notice within 10 days, as to why he shouldn’t be expelled from the party.

Delhi Man Shot In Face; 4 Juveniles Arrested

In a horrific murder attempt, a man in Delhi was shot in the face, said police on July 16. Reportedly, four minors who knew the victim, approached him with a gun. The gunman shot the victim in his right eye, and everyone does the spot. The victim, identified as Javed (36), is reportedly in a stable condition. Meanwhile, police have arrested all the four juveniles. Further details are awaited.

Tribal Man Gets 10 Year RI In Kidnapping, Rape Case: Odisha

In Odisha, a Fast Track Court Judge-cum-Additional District Judge Bhaskar Chandra Sahu, gave 10-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a tribal man for kidnapping a 17-year-old girl and repeatedly raping her for three-years. On July 13 verdict, the Kandhamal district judge also imposed Rs 2 lakh fine. If the accused fail to pay the fine, he needs to spend an additional 2-years in jail in the 2019 rape and kidnapping case.
