6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Southern Iran; At Least 3 Dead & 8 Injured

An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude on the richter scale hit southern Iran, which killed at least three persons, on July 2. According to the European Mediterranean Seismology Centre (EMSC), the earthquake which was 10 kms in depth, left at least eight wounded. Mehrdad Hassanzadah, head of emergency management in Hormozgan Province on Iran's Gulf coast, told the media about the casualties reported.

Seven Earthquakes Hit Iranian Coast, Slight Tremors Felt In UAE; No Damage Recorded

Seven earthquakes hit Iran's southern Kish Island, jolting Dubai and other cities around the Persian Gulf on June 15. The U.S. Geological Survey stated six magnitudes 4 temblors struck and one magnitude 5.3 off the island. Although no damage or injuries were reported, authorities dispatched rescue crews to the town of Jenah in Hormozgan province. Iran is located on major seismic faults and averages one earthquake every day.

Iran To Not Recognise Taliban Until All Ethnic Groups Are Included

Iran will not recognise the new Taliban government (Islamic Emirate) if it doesn't include all ethnic groups in the government, said Iranian Ambassador Bahadur Aminian, on January 2. Kazakhstan To Hold Astana Talks On Syria After Dec 20

The next round of the Astana talks on Syria is set to be held in Kazakhstan after December 20. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tleuberdi stated that both the Astana process and a meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, and Iran would be hosted by Nur-Sultan. Kazakhstan said that only Russia has sent an official note to attend the talk so far.
