IT Raids

The Income Tax (IT) official conducted raids at Lenovo offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurgaon, claiming tax evasion. The searches were carried out on September 28, confirmed sources. Furthermore, the officials inspected laptops of Lenovo employees during the visit, one of the sources said. They also tried to contact Lenovo's senior management during and after the visit as part of the inquiry, the person added.

After a massive search for four days at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai, the Income Tax (IT) department officials said, they found tax irregularities. The United States of America (USA) reacted to the recent IT-Raids conducted at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai. On February 15, State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said, "Beyond this discrete action, what I'll say more broadly is the general point that I've consistently made in this context, but in a universal context as well." Furthermore, the US said that they support free press and its importance.

Income Tax raids at the premises of Yashwant Jadhav, a Shiv Sena leader and sitting Chairman of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Standing Committee Chairperson, concluded on the morning of February 28. The raids started three days ago, on February 25, confirmed IT officials. Notably, the IT officials seized documents, assets, laptops and interrogated the Shiv Sena corporator.
