South Africa Unrest: At least 276 Dead, Many Missing Claims Minister

Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, an acting cabinet minister of the Assembly of South Africa, informed that the ongoing riots have cost the lives of at least 276, linked to the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma. The police are investigating 168 cases of murder, arson, and looting. Zuma was arrested after the constitutional court found him guilty of corruption accusations. He is to serve a 15-month prison sentence.

Riots Erupt Defying South African Ex-President's Imprisonment

Following the imprisonment of former South African President Jacob Zuma, many provinces are subjected to riots, where several hundred supporters were seen blocking roads and looting shops. Zuma has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for contempt of court. Reportedly, 62 people have been arrested by the police. The riot initially originated in Zuma’s home region of KwaZulu-Natal province, and later it took over Gauteng province.

South Africa: Ex-President Zuma Summoned In Corruption Probe

In an on-going probe related to corruption, former President of South Africa Jacob Zuma has been summoned by an inquiry commission. He has been asked to appear from November 16-20 for the case associated with assisting the controversial Gupta Family for duping state-owned entities. However, he has been allowed to present his side online. The order came after Zuma requested more time to appear citing his health conditions.
