SC Agrees To Review Amaravati Capital Issue, Lists Matter

The Supreme Court reviewed the request of advocate Niranjan Reddy, asking for earl listing of the Amaravati Capital Issue.  On February 6, the Top Court listed the Andhra Pradesh Capital issue for hearing on February 23. Notably, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP Government moved the Apex Court, after the AP High Court issues a stay order on the issue, restricting the government to shift capital.

Massive Fire Breaks Out At Newly Constructed Hospital Building In Tirupati; 2 Children Die

A massive fire broke out in the newly constructed building of Karthikeya hospital in Renigunta, situated in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati, on September 25. Two children identified as Siddhartha Reddy (12) and Kartika (6) succumbed to the injuries. The incident reportedly occurred due to an electrical short circuit. Meanwhile, fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Further details on the matter are awaited.

CM Jagan Orders Suspension Of 2 Officials For Forcibly Taking Cab From Passengers: AP

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered the suspension of two officials from the transport department, on April 21. Reportedly, Home Guard Tirupal Reddy and assistant motor vehicle inspector Sandhya directed a cab driver to abandon his passengers, and report to Ongole, since the vehicle was assigned to CM's convoy. The news came to light after media reported that a family has been stranded on their way to Tirumala.

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Revamps Cabinet As Promised: Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, keeping up his promise on revamping the cabinet, has reconstituted it. CM Jagan Reddy announced to increase the representation of SC, ST, Other Backward Castes (OBC) and minorities to 68%. Earlier, there were seven members from OBCs, five from SCs and one from STs. There will now be 11-17 member from the backward classes, five from SCs and one from STs.

The Special Sessions Court for trial of MPs and MLAs has issued summons to Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and two others. The court directed the three of them to appear on March 28, in connection with a 2014 case. Reportedly, a case was registered against the trio for organising a road-show during 2014 assembly elections, allegedly without obtaining prior permission from the authorities, reported PTI.

Andhra Pradesh Govt Imposes Night Curfew Amid Covid-19 Surge

Amid rising cases of Covid-19, the Andhra Pradesh government has imposed night curfew on January 10, from 11 pm to 5 am. The decision came after the meeting held by CM Jagan Mohan Reddy with health officials. Reportedly multiplexes and cinemas will operate with 50% seating and religious places have to follow Covid-19 protocols. Anyone violating the rule of not wearing a mask would face a penalty of Rs 100.

Andhra Govt To Award Rs 30 Lakh To PV Sindhu

A sum of Rs 30 lakh will be awarded to Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Indian shuttler PV Sindhu by the CM of Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy. According to the State Sports Policy, a bronze medallist is authorised to get Rs 30 lakhs in reward. The Andhra government has also permitted 2 acres of land for setting up Badminton Academy in Visakhapatnam.

Andhra CM Reddy Lays Foundation Stones For 16 New Medical Colleges

Andhra Pradesh is set to house 16 new medical colleges as CM Jagan Mohan Reddy virtually laid the foundation stones of the institutions on May 31. Besides this Rs-7,880 crore project, the Andhra government has also allocated Rs 1,600 crore for revamping health infrastructure. The government said many people had to visit neighboring states for treatment as only 10 medical-colleges had been opened in Andhra Pradesh in last 10 years.

Telangana CM Jagan Mohan's Sister To Launch Political Party On July 8

Late Telangana CM YS Rajasekara Reddy's daughter and current CM Jagan Mohan Reddy's sister YS Sharmila has announced to launch a political party in the state on July 8. Discarding all speculations about being related to the TRS or BJP, Sharmila said, "My party will not work under any of the parties." Notably, the meeting was skipped by CM Reddy. Showing anti-TRS stance, Sharmila also sought backing from YSR supporters.
