The request for CBI prosecution of three present and one former TMC MLAs has been approved by the West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on May 9. Reportedly, Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakim, Madan Maitra and Sovan Chatterjee took bribes in 2014 when they were ministers. They were caught in the Narada sting operation. Recently, CM Mamata Banerjee had listed Mukherjee and Hakim as members of her newly-constituted Cabinet.
Two-time West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on May 5 took the oath for the post for her third consecutive term. Inaugurating the Durga Puja celebrations in West Bengal, the state Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar hoped that the next year's celebration will be the same as of pre-COVID days. He also requested people not to flout the guidelines issued by the Calcutta High Court. However, the court has eased its order from 'no-entry into the pandals' to 'limited entry'. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on September 24 alleged opaqueness in the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS). Saying that FICCI, involved in BGBS, had connection with the Finance Minister, he pointed out that it was not clear who had benefited from the event. He insisted that the TMC-led government should publish a white paper with details of Rs 12.3 lakh crore, which was invested on the five editions of BGBS.
