The voting for the election of new Vice President of India will be held on August 6. Current Vice President Venkaiah Naidu's tenure will come to an end on August 10. National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) Vice Presidential candidate is West Bengal governor Jadgeep Dhankar, who filed his nomination on July 18. Meanwhile, opposition's candidate is former Rajasthan governor Margaret Alva, who filed her nomination on July 19.

The request for CBI prosecution of three present and one former TMC MLAs has been approved by the West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on May 9. Reportedly, Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakim, Madan Maitra and Sovan Chatterjee took bribes in 2014 when they were ministers. They were caught in the Narada sting operation. Recently, CM Mamata Banerjee had listed Mukherjee and Hakim as members of her newly-constituted Cabinet.

The Union Culture Ministry will host the 11th edition of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM) in West Bengal on February 14. Inaugurating the Durga Puja celebrations in West Bengal, the state Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar hoped that the next year's celebration will be the same as of pre-COVID days. He also requested people not to flout the guidelines issued by the Calcutta High Court. However, the court has eased its order from 'no-entry into the pandals' to 'limited entry'. Now, 15 people will be allowed in small pandals while 60 in large ones.
