In Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu, around 8,000 women attired in traditional outfits took part in international Kullu Dussehra festival and performed folk dance at Rath Maidan on October 7. The festival is val commenced on October 5, and the cold dance marked day three of the festival. Notably, on day one, PM Modi, CM Jai Ram Thakur and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar participated in the opening ceremony.

Himachal Pradesh unit's BJP Vice President Praveen Sharma has passed away at the age of 65, on August 4 in Una district. Sharma breathed his last at his Amb kaswa residence, and is now survived by his wife and son. CM Jai Ram Thakur and BJP president JP Nadda expressed their grief over Sharma's demise. The Himachal Pradesh state government has signed an MoU with the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) for the construction of ropeways under the Parvatmala scheme. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has described it as a significant MoU. As many as seven ropeway projects reaching a total length of 57.1 kilometres would be constructed in the state. This would cost up to Rs 3.232 crores.

Veteran congress leader and sitting MLA of Himachal Pradesh assembly Sujan Singh Pathania passed away on February 12, after prolonged illness. The 77-year-old Congressman was a seven-time MLA and a sitting Minister at HP cabinet. Born in Lahore, Singh earlier worked as a range officer in HP forest department, later joined Janata Party in 1977 and finally Congress in 1980.
