Nitish Kumar Expands Bihar Cabinet, 30 Ministers Take Oath
The Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) and its alliance Rashtriya Janata Dal, expanded its cabinet and inducted 30 ministers. On August 16, the newly elected ministers, including 15 legislators of the RJD took the oath of office as berth ministers. JD(U) MLAs Leshi Singh, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Yadav, Madan Sahni, Sheela Kumari Mandal, and others took oath in the first batch at Rajendra Mandal, at Raj Bhavan, Patna.

JDU Officially Exit NDA, BJP Alliance In Bihar
Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) (JDU) officially walks out of alliance with the BJP in Bihar, on August 9. The developments came after a meeting of MLAs and MPs, at Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's residence, Patna. Furthermore, Kumar will meet Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan at 4:00 pm and resign as the State CM. Moreover, with the official exit of JDU from NDA, the party may join hands with the opposition.

BJP To Contest Bihar MLC Elections In Alliance With JDU
In the upcoming Bihar MLC elections, the BJP will contest in alliance with the NDA party, the Janata Dal United (JDU). While the BJP will contest for 13 seats, the JDU will be filing nomination for 11 seats. Although the JDU wanted a 50-50 seatings, the BJP said, they would nominate all 13 sitting MLCs. However a final decision will be taken by BJP high-command, said Bihar President Sanjay Jaiswal.

Bihar Elections: CM, Portfolios Likely To Be Decided After Top Leaders Meet
The BJP's central command is brainstorming for the formation of new Bihar Cabinet and allocation of portfolios. Reportedly, the BJP leaders will meet in Delhi in this regard, following which discussions will be held with Nitish Kumar. While Deputy CM Sushil Modi said there was no confusion on portfolio sharing, state BJP, which emerged as the largest NDA constituent in Bihar, clarified that CM would be as per earlier arrangements.

Bihar: Minister Faces Charges Of Conspiracy, Murder
Bihar's minister Ramsewak Singh has been booked for conspiracy and murder charges under IPC sections 120B and 302. He is accused of murdering Bajrang Dal member Jai Bahadur Singh who was shot dead in Mirganj. The deceased's grandson, in his complaint, alleged that Ramsewak killed Jai Bahadur as the latter opposed the minister's campaign to vote for Janata Dal (United). However, the minister said, "My name has been wrongly dragged."

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Announced Current Election As His Last
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on November 5 that Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 will be his last to contest. The surprise announcement came when the three-time CM was campaigning at Purnia's Dhamdhaha for phase 3 of the elections. During the rally, the CM added in Hindi, "All's well that ends well." Phase 3 voting starts on November 7 and results will be announced on November 10.

Patna: Free Uber Rides To Polling Booths For Elderly, Differently-abled Voters
In a novel initiative, the Election Commission will provide free 'Uber rides' to polling booths to voters who are differently-abled or above 80 years, in Patna. Rides up to Rs 120 will be free and exceeding fare will be borne by the voter. Eligible voters will need to get a code by calling on toll-free number 18003451950. Constituencies of Digha, Bankipur, Kumhrar and Patna Sahib will go to the polls on November 3.
