Uttar Pradesh ATS Arrests 1 With Alleged Links With JeM

The Uttar Pradesh ATS has arrested Saifullah, who is allegedly have links with Jaish-e-Mohammad, a terrorist outfit, confirmed police on August 14. Arrest of Saifullah was based on a tip off provided by Mohammad Nadeem, who is under ATS custody since August 12. Over 100 Terrorists Eliminated Since Beginning Of 2022 In Kashmir, Say Officials

Officials from Jammu and Kashmir have reported that over 100 terrorists have been eliminated in counter terrorism operations since the beginning of 2022. Notably, during the same corresponding period in 2021, 50 terrorists including one foreigner were killed. This year, 100 terrorists Including 29 foreigners have been killed. Of this, 63 reportedly belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit and 24 to Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.

Tunnel Found In Jammu's Samba Area, Security Tightened

A small opening, suspected to be a tunnel, has been found near Jammu's Samba area, on May 5. Reportedly, a probe into the tunnel will be carried out by BSF shortly. After two JeM terrorists were killed in an encounter, it was established that they had infiltrated from somewhere in Sopowal area of Samba. After which, the BSF launched a massive anti-tunnelling operation in the area.

JeM Commander Ashiq Ahmed Nengroo Now Designated As Terrorist By Indian Govt

The Indian government on April 18, designated Ashiq Ahmed Nengroo, the commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), as a terrorist. According to the Union Home Ministry, Nengroo is responsible for infiltrating terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir, and orchestrating various terror activities in Kashmir. Nengroo has now been designated as a terrorist under the provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
