The Jammu & Kashmir Police arrested Yaseer Ahmed (23,) accused in the suspicious murder of J&K Director General of Prison (DGP) Hemant Lohia. Yaseer, the domestic helper of Lohia was absconding and said to be depressed, has now been arrested after an overnight search. J&K DG Of Prison HK Lohia Found Dead In Suspicious Circumstances, Police Suspect Murder

Director General of Prisons HK Lohia was found dead in his home in the Udaywala area of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident happened on the intervening night of October 3 and 4, when the police found him dead with his throat slit. The police registered a case and tweeted, "The domestic help with the officer is absconding. A search for him has started." A murder case has been registered.

3 JeM Terrorist Killed During Encounter In J&K's Budgam

In J&K's Zolwa Kralpora Chadoora area of Budgam district, three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces, on January 6. 3 Persons Including Sarpanch Arrested For Drug Peddling In Kupwara: J&K

Police in Kupwara district of J&K arrested three persons, including a Sarpanch, for their involvement in drug peddling, and booked them under Public Safety Act (PSA), on December 30. SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas said that the trio has been arrested and lodged in Jail, after PSA orders were issued by Divisional Commissioner. He said that they were habitual drug peddlers, and were luring youth towards drugs.

Active Terrorists In J&K Reduces Significantly, Reveal Govt Sources

Official sources have revealed that the number of active terrorists in the Jammu and Kashmir has drastically reduced. The government figures stated that nearly 270 terrorists are currently active in the UT against 2020 (300) and 2019 (421) figures. The data suggested that the security forces performed over 100 counter-terrorism operations killing 225 terrorists and has recorded less number of insurgency and civilian killings.

Eight Injured In J&K After Terrorists Attempt To Attack Security Personnel

Eight civilians were injured in a grenade attack occured on January 2, in the Tral area of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. Militants targeted the security personnel in the area, but missed the intended target and exploded in the market. "The victims suffered minor injuries, and their condition is stable," said a police official. A probe has been launched to arrest the attackers.

Army Seizes Arms Wrapped In Polybag Along LoC In Poonch District

In an integrated effort, Indian Army and J&K Police seized two pistols, 70 bullets and two grenades wrapped in a polybag from bushes along the LoC in Dabbi village of Poonch district. The arms were recovered by the forces following the arrest of three terrorists on December 27. Poonch SSP Ramesh Angral said that one of the arrested suspects, Yasmeen Khan, confessed about the arms during interrogation.

J&K Police Books INC Lawyer For Ferrying Terrorists; Party Denies

A lawyer Gowhar Ahmed Wani, who was alleged to be a Congress member, has been charged by the Jammu and Kashmir police on December 10. Gowhar has been accused of ferrying terrorists in his car and is booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. As per police, Gowhar has been absconding since December 7 and was detained for interrogation on December 9. However, Congress has denied links with Gowhar Wani.
