Ex-JNU Student, Activist Umar Khalid Tests COVID Positive In Tihar Jail
Former JNU student and activist, Umar Khalid, who was arrested for his involvement in the 2020 Delhi riots case, has tested positive for COVID-19 in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Reportedly, the 33-year-old activist has been isolated in the jail following the symptoms. As of April 23, the prison has recorded 227 active COVID-19 cases, including inmates and staff, in the premises. Currently, there are about 20,000 inmates in Tihar Jail.

Kanhaiya, 9 Others Issued Summons In 2016 JNU Sedition Case
The Delhi High Court on February 15 summoned all the accused, including Kanhaiya Kumar, in 2016 JNU sedition case for March 15. The Delhi Police's chargesheet has claimed that Kanhaiya led his counterparts for anti-India slogans on JNU campus in 2016 at an event marking terrorist Afzal Guru's execution. Reportedly, the trial was stalled earlier due to spat between the BJP and AAP as the former accused the latter of shielding the students.

CBFC Kerala Office Disapproves Screening Of Parvathy's Varthamanam
Parvathy Thiruvoth-starrer Malayalam film, Varthamanam, has been rejected for screening by the Kerala office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). BJP General Secretary CT Ravi Calls For Renaming JNU After Vivekananda
BJP general secretary CT Ravi on November 16 stirred a controversy by his tweet that suggested to rename Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as Swami Vivekananda University. The former Karnataka minister Ravi said, "It is Swami Vivekananda who stood for the 'Idea of Bharat’." PM Modi Unveils Life-size Statue Of Vivekananda At JNU Campus
A life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda has been installed in JNU Campus on November 12. The statue was unveiled by PM Narendra Modi who said, "our ideology should be seen standing with the nation and not against it in matters of national interests". PM Modi's presence in JNU, however, ignited protests from JNU Students Union with slogans like " Modi go back" and "we want answers".

Delhi High Court Orders JNU To Provide 5% Admission Quota To Disabled Students
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been ordered by the Delhi High Court on November 6 to include at least five percent differently-abled students in the total number of admitted candidates. JNU's counsel Monika Arora ensured that the university has met the expectations. However, JNU had recently announced that the university could not meet the quota-related requirement mandated under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act.

JNU Entrance Exam To Be Reconducted After Technical Errors Surfaced
