Unilever To Cut Thousands Of Jobs Worldwide In Over 100 Countries

According to reports, Unilever is set to announce thousands of job cuts in over 100 countries. The announcement came a week after Unilever failed to buy the consumer health division of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for 50 billion pounds. The company announced a major initiative in January, to enhance greater agility and strengthen accountability. Unilever, employs nearly 150,000 people worldwide, including more than 6,000 factories.

Volkswagen Retrenches 5,000 Jobs Till 2023 To Finance EV Segment

The German carmaker Volkswagen has announced to retrench around 5,000 employees, including 900 employees opting for early retirement, between now and the end of 2023. BSNL Might Face Manpower Deficit; Lays Off 20,000 Contract Employees

According to a statement by the BSNL Employees' Union, the units have been directed to reduce costs on contracts and this could lead to the eviction of over 20,000 employees. The Union stated that 30,000 contract employees had already been removed. Earlier, through the VRS-2019 plan, 79,000 employees had retired and the union claims that the removal of the contract employees could worsen the situation and lead to a manpower deficit.
