Special Public Prosecutor Submits Witness List To Court For Journalist Gauri Lankesh Case

Special Public Prosecutor in the murder case of journalist Gauri Lankesh presented a witness list to Bengaluru City Civil and Sessions Court on June 4. The hearing has been rescheduled to June 6 to allow for filing of any arguments to the plea. Trial will take place from July 4 to 8. Gauri was shot at her residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bangalore, on September 5, 2017, by three unidentified men.

Late Photojournalist Danish Siddiqui Receives 2nd Pulitzer Award

Famous photojournalist Danish Siddiqui, who died while covering the Afghanistan-Taliban war in 2021, has been honored with the prestigious Pulitzer Prize 2022.  He is amongst the four Indians, who received the prestigious award in the field of journalist under the feature photo category, showcasing  "images of COVID's toll in India.  Besides Siddiqui, Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, and Amit Dave won the award, announced on May 9.

Trial To Start After 4 Years In Journalist Gauri Lankesh Killing Case: Bangalore

After four years of the killing of journalist Gauri Lankesh, the trial in the matter, will start from May 27. Reportedly, the trial was delayed since the accused engaged more than 60 lawyers and had filed various petitions. The trial will be held against 17 accused Including kingpin Amol Kale, Shooter Waghmore, and rider Ganesh Miskin. Lankesh was a 'left-leaning' journalist who was shot dead outside her house, reported PTI.

Salman Khan Challenges Summon Issued To Him Over Journalist's Complaint

Salman Khan, who has been alleged of misbehaved with a journalist in 2019,  and was issued summon, filed a plea against it. Notably, a Bombay court issued the notice, asking the Bollywood actor to appear before the court on April 5. However, Khan challenged the issued summon and moved to Bombay HC, which agreed to review the petition. Single-bench of Justice Reveti Mohite Dere will conduct hearing on April 5.

Journalist working With International News Agency Found Dead: Bengaluru

In Bengaluru, 35-year-old Sruthi Narayanan, working as a journalist in an international news agency was found dead in her Bengaluru flat, on March 24. The police found her strangled in her flat. The family of the deceased claimed it to be murder and suspected her husband, Aneesh who used to allegedly torture her. Police also speculated tense relationship between the couple. A FIR has been registered and investigation is underway.

Journalist Beaten To Death In UP Over Alleged 'Road Rage'; 2 Arrested

Uttar Pradesh police arrested two people on January 27, for allegedly beating a journalist to death in Saharanpur area. Police said, the journalist was on a motorbike and overtook the car, in which three persons were seated. They said that enraged by overtaking, the three men allegedly thrashed the journalist, due to which he was seriously injured, and died later. Police further stated that a legal action is being ensured.
