38 Convicts Sentenced To Death Under 2008 Serial Bomb Blast
On March 9, the Gujarat High Court confirmed the death sentence to 38 convicts under the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blast case. However, the special court led by Justice Sonia Gokani and Mauna M Bhatt had already issued death notice to the convicts under the act of CrPC. Reportedly, there were 22 bomb attacks in Ahmedabad on July 26, 2018.

Uttar Pradesh Government To Soon Adopt Two-Child Policy
To motivate people to have smaller families, Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission initiated the work on the draft bill for the two-child policy. Elucidating the policy, Justice Mittal stated, "UP has more than 22 crore population, which is higher than many countries. So it's necessary that at some point of time one should take measures". Supreme Court Judge Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar Passes Away At 62
Supreme Court judge Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar has passed away at 62 in Gurgaon on April 25. Battling a lung infection, he was admitted to the ICU ward at the Medanta hospital. However, it is uncertain if Shantanagoudar had contracted the coronavirus. Earlier, he was the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court and then was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court on February 17, 2017.

SC Says Private Vehicles Not A Public Place As Per NDPS Act
Challenging a Punjab and Haryana High Court order, the Supreme Court said that a private vehicle cannot be expressed as "public place" under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The SC said, although parked in public, the private vehicle cannot be framed. Earlier, the HC sentenced Singh four people with 10-year imprisonment and Rs 1 lakh fine after recovering two bags of poppy straw from their jeep.
