Droupadi Murmu Highlights Difficulties Of Prisoners Under Trials
During the inauguration of the Jharkhand HC building, the President of India Droupadi Murmu, highlighted the issue of prisoners under trial. Speaking of access to justice, she spoke about the rising number of cases are a burden to courts, as many cases are still pending, Prisoners and accused are crowding jails, as they are undertrials. "We (referring the whole society) should address the root cause of the problem, said Droupadi Murmu.

Amit Shah To Visit Violence Hit Manipur, Assures Justice
Reacting to the recent Manipur violence, resulting in the death of one person, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, appealed for peace. In a media briefing, Shah said, "I will go to Manipur soon and stay there for three days but before that, both groups should remove mistrust and suspicion among themselves and ensure that peace is restored in the state." MEA Releases 26/11 Report, Says Pakistan Is Not Sincere

Grieving Father Struggles To Find Justice For Son Who Was Killed In Accident
A former Army-man, Naib Subedar Bal Mukund Chaubey, has been struggling to find justice for his son, who died in a vehicle accident. "I visited the police station, but they never gave me an appropriate response," he rues. He eventually decided to take the matters into his own hands. 38 Convicts Sentenced To Death Under 2008 Serial Bomb Blast
On March 9, the Gujarat High Court confirmed the death sentence to 38 convicts under the 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blast case. However, the special court led by Justice Sonia Gokani and Mauna M Bhatt had already issued death notice to the convicts under the act of CrPC. Reportedly, there were 22 bomb attacks in Ahmedabad on July 26, 2018.

Supreme Court Judge Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar Passes Away At 62
Supreme Court judge Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar has passed away at 62 in Gurgaon on April 25. Battling a lung infection, he was admitted to the ICU ward at the Medanta hospital. However, it is uncertain if Shantanagoudar had contracted the coronavirus. SC Says Private Vehicles Not A Public Place As Per NDPS Act
Challenging a Punjab and Haryana High Court order, the Supreme Court said that a private vehicle cannot be expressed as "public place" under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The SC said, although parked in public, the private vehicle cannot be framed. Earlier, the HC sentenced Singh four people with 10-year imprisonment and Rs 1 lakh fine after recovering two bags of poppy straw from their jeep.
