Leena Manimekalai, a filmmaker, has received a summons from a Delhi court on a lawsuit that aims to prevent her from showing the goddess Kali smoking a cigarette. A lawsuit was lodged against Manimekalai for representing the Hindu deity in an "uncalled manner" in the "Kaali" poster and commercial video, which featured the goddess smoking a cigarette. The case has been scheduled for a hearing on August 6.

BJP’s West Bengal President Criticizes TMC For Failing To Take Stern Action Against Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra
Sukanta Majumdar, head of BJP in West Bengal, criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress for failing to take harsh action against Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra for her comments demeaning Goddess Kaali. Majumdar urged TMC to "either expel or suspend" Moitra for making offensive comments about religion and upsetting the majority of Hindus.
