A class 12 student was found dead in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district, making it the third such death in Tamil Nadu, in a month. Police have registered a case of suspicious death, and an investigation is underway. According to Cuddalore SP S Sakthi Ganesan, the girl was going through some domestic issues at home. Earlier, two class 12 students from Kallakurichi and Thiruvalluvar died by suicide, in the same month.

A class 12-student allgedly commited suicide  at the hostel of government-aided girls' higher secondary school in Tiruvallur district's Kilacheri on July 25. In the case of Kallakurichi student death, the Supreme Court of India refused to entertain the victim's father's plea to conduct a third post-mortem with the presence of a medical practitioner of petitioner's choice. Meanwhile, protests broke out in Kallakurichi, where buses were set ablaze and school property was vandalised. A class 12 student allegedly died by way of suicide, accusing two teachers in a suicide note.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendra Babu, to probe into the violence that has erupted in the case pertaining to the death of a class 12 girl in Kallakurichi. This has come after protestors stormed into the school, vandalised the premises and set buses of fire. A widespread outrage has been created since the death of the student.

In Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi, a 17-year-old boy allegedly murdered his fellow classmate for body shaming him, and verbally abusing him, on May 15. The boy has confessed to the crime, and was brought to the police station by his parents. Reportedly, the boy decided to eliminate his friend after he was bullied by him repeatedly. The boy stated that his chest and thighs were pinched and he was verbally abused.
