Well-Known Kannada Singer Shivamogga Subbanna Passes Away Due To Heart Attack
Renowned Kannada singer Shivamogga Subbanna passed suddenly on August 11 night after suffering a heart attack at a local hospital in Karnataka. The 83-year-old, who performed the song "Kaadu Kudure Odi Banditta" in the movie "Kaadu Kudure," became the first Kannadiga to receive a National Award for playback singing. He was well-known for his work in "Sugama Sangeetha," a form in which Kannada poetry is put to music.

Yash's Kannada Superhit 'Googly' To Be Recreated By Mahesh Danannavar
Mahesh Danannavar, a well-known producer, has recently secured the remake rights to Kannada superhit "Googly" in Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, and other north Indian languages. Pavan Wadeyar wrote and directed the 2013 rom-com, which starred Yash and Kriti Kharbanda. The cast and crew are still being finalized, according to Mahesh, "We will soon make a more detailed announcement but this is truly an exciting time for all makers."

Govt Softwares To Soon Have Kannada Templates, Says CM Bommai: E-Kannada Project
Softwares related to state government will soon contain templates in Kannada, said Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai. He said that the language Kannada must synergise with technology to evolve ahead. Speaking a function to launch e-Kannada project, he said, "it is heartening to note that many softwares are now available in Kannada." He further stated that the language should be developed to cater to the needs of Kannadigas.

Plea Quashed, No Action Against Google In Ugliest Language Case
Karnataka High Court on September 8 quashed a petition by the Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust seeking action against Google for describing Kannada as the ''ugliest language'' of India. The petitioner also urged the court to order Google to pay a compensation of Rs 10 crore to the Culture and Heritage Department of Karnataka. In response, the court stated that Google had already apologized via Twitter, on June 3.

According to the 2011 census data, Bengaluru has been found as the most linguistically diverse district with the home to 107 scheduled and non-scheduled languages, followed by Pune at second in India. The data also reveals that 44.62% of people in the city speak Kannada among the scheduled languages. Dr. Mudit Kapoor, involved in the research, said it shows where people are moving to in the country.

South Indian Actor Sanchari Vijay To Receive Full State Funeral
Kannada actor Sanchari Vijay, died after sustaining significant brain injuries in a car accident. Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa thanked Vijay's family, on Twitter, for donating his organs. As a mark of gratitude, the CM said that the National Award-winning actor will be honoured with a state funeral with police honours. However, the doctors declared the 38-year-old actor brain dead, on June 14.

Actor Sanchari Vijay dies due to brain failure on June 14 in a private Bengaluru hospital after sustaining major injuries due to a road accident.
