Haryana Police Detains 4 People With Ammunitions, Suspects As Terrorist

In Haryana's Karnal, the police detained four people, suspected to be involved with terror groups along with explosives. On May 5, the Karnal SP Ram Poonia said, three identified as Gurpreet, Amandeep and Parminder are from Punjab's Ferozepur, and one Bhupinder is from Ludhiana. SP further added, "Desi pistol, 31 live ammunition, 3 iron-container with explosives, and nearly Rs 1.3 lakh have been recovered". The case is under investigation.… read-more

200 Acres Of Wheat Crop Destroyed In Fire: Haryana

In Haryana's Karnal district, a fire broke out on the farm lands of kacchwa village, destroying over 200 acres of standing wheat crop, reported ANI, on April 11. The fire reportedly broke out due to a short circuit in the reaper. The affected villagers stated that the fire brigade showed up an hour late. An agrieved farmer said, "there's no food to eat and no fodder for animals".

Haryana Extends Ban On Internet In Karnal: Farmers' Protest

Haryana government on September 7 decided to extend the temporary ban on mobile internet and SMS services in Karnal district following the farmers' "non-stop" protest against the administration's "lathi-charge" on August 28. Reportedly, the farmers demanded an FIR against those 'who ordered the lathi-charge'. ''We've captured the gate of mini secretariat...it's up to the government now as to when they want to talk,'' said Rakesh Tikait.

Police Will Use Force If Protesting Farmers Throw Stones: Haryana CM

CM Manohar Lal Khattar on August 28 said that if the protesting farmers ''jam highways and throw stones at police, then the police will also take steps to maintain law and order''. Notably, his remark came after Haryana police lathi-charged the farmers to disperse them in Karnal, resulting in injury to four farmers and 10 policemen. Reportedly, farmers gathered in Karnal to protest against the farm laws.
