Karnataka To Have India's First Marian To Boost Coastal Tourism
In order to boost coastal tourism in Karnataka, the BJP-led State Government is going to construct India's first Marina which will be constructed at Byndoor in the Udupi district. On February 26, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai confirmed the same and said, " it is proposed to take up beach tourism in coastal areas and pilgrim tourism." The decision was taken after seeking all the necessary permission from the GoI.

Karnataka CM Assures Legislation To Mandate Kannada Language
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said his government is bringing in a legislation to make Kannada "mandatory" in the State. On the Hindi Divas, September 14, Bommai said the announcement, which is expected to be after protest from the locals. Kannada activists have been demanding for many years now for full implementation of Kannada as the administrative language, which is now being considered by BJP-led State Government.

SC Bench To Hear Hijab Ban Row Plea On August 29
The Supreme Court will hear a batch of appeals challenging the Karnataka High Court's order which had upheld the state government's order to ban hijabs in school and college classrooms. On August 29, the Apex Court bench-led by new Chief Justice of India (CJI) UU Lalit will hear the Hijab ban plea. The bench will also have justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia.

Karnataka Govt Mandates Singing National Anthem In Schools, Colleges
Karnataka Government mandates singing the "national anthem" in schools and colleges in the State. The order dated August 17 is applicable to all government, aided and private schools and pre-university colleges. The order cites Section 133(2) of the Karnataka Education Act, which gives the government the power to issue directions, making singing the national anthem mandatory for school students during the mass prayers every morning.

Boycott Muslim Mango Farmers & Sellers, Demands Karnataka Right Wing Groups
After boycotting Muslim vendors outside temples, and halal meat sellers, the Karnataka Hindu groups demanded to boycott Muslim farmers and mango sellers. The demand came amid the monopoly of Muslim traders in the State, denying business space to Hindus. Mango retail business is dominated by Muslim traders in Bengaluru. Furthermore, the Karnataka government distanced itself from it and said, "The government has no role to play in it.”
