The interim president of Congress party Sonia Gandhi, during her visit to Karnataka on October 5, visited the Bheemanakolli temple in Begur village to offer her Dussehra prayers. She was reportedly accompanied by village panchayat members and local Congress members. Sonia Gandhi’s visit to Karnataka has come in wake of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the 3,500 km march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, which is led by Rahul Gandhi.

HD Kumaraswamy Meets K Chandrashekhar Rao In Hyderabad In View Of National Party Launch
Former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy met with Telangana CM and TRS leader K Chandrashekhar Rao, ahead of the general body elections in Hyderabad. The duo met at Pragati Bhawan on October 5. Kumaraswamy’s visit to KCR has come in view of the national party launch by the latter. Kumaraswamy along with 20 JDS legislators arrived at Hyderabad to attend the event.

Raids Conducted Across 6 States To Crackdown PFI; 75 Taken Into Preventive Custody
Police along with investigating agencies conducted raids in another major crackdown against Popular Front of India (PFI) on September 27. Reportedly, the raids are being conducted in Assam, Karnataka, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Over 75 PFI and SDPI workers have been taken into preventive custody. Furthermore, cases have been booked under Sections 108 and 151 of CrPC.

President Droupadi Murmu To Be On 2-Day Visit To Karnataka
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to be on a two-day visit to the state of Karnataka, where she’ll be attending few programmes. President Murmu is expected to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festival at Chamundi Hills, and on the same day, will attend the felicitation function ‘Poura Sanmana’ at Hubli. She is also expected to inaugurate the Indian Institute of Technology in Dharwad.

NIA, ED Conducts Raids Across 11 States, Arrests 106 PFI Members
In a join operation conducted by NIA, ED and the respected state police departments across 11 states, around 106 Popular Front of India (PFI) members were arrested on September 22. The highest number of arrested persons were from Kerala (22), followed by Karnataka (20) and Maharashtra (20). The operation commenced at around 1 am in the night and concluded at around 5 am. The operation involved over 1,500 personnel.

Karnataka CM Bommai Announces Free Electric Two-Wheelers For Sanitation Workers
Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai kicked off a special drive providing free electric two-wheelers to sanitation workers. The scheme has so far been extended to ten municipal corporations in the state. Anti-Conversion Bill To Be Tabled In Karnataka Legislative Council
The anti-conversion bill will likely to be tabled by the Basavaraj Bommai-led government in the state Legislative Council on September 15. BJP MLC DS Arun said that he is expecting the support of Congress and JDS parties in passing the bill. Notably, the bill has been passed in the lower house, and is now waiting for approval in the upper house.

Praveen Nettaru Murder Case: Accused’s Brother Held For Threatening Man
In the murder case of BJP leader Praveen Nettaru, the accused’s brother has been held for allegedly threatening a man, informed police. The arrested person has been identified as Abdul Safriz alias Abdul Saprith (21). A case has been registered based on the complaint given by right-wing activist Prashanth Poonja under sections 504 and 506 of IPC. Safriz is reportedly the brother of accused Shafeeq.
