Kashi's Akshayvat Tree Gets Uprooted; Devotees Create Row

Akshayvat tree of Kashi, one among India's three and believed to be holding ground since Treta Yuga, fell down on April 28, creating a ruckus among the devotees. Many alleged that it was the construction company, responsible for Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, that deceitfully uprooted the tree. Meanwhile, some locals said the tree grew in a haphazard way and fell over its own weight as it leaned on the nearby walls.
