Rahul Gandhi Writes To PM Modi Over Kashmiri Pandits Issue

Former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi wrote to PM Narendra Modi, regarding the issues of Kashmiri Pandits, in the union territory of J&K. In the letter, Gandhi flagged the issue of the recent spate of targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits and others by terrorists and urged to look into the Kashmiri pandits, who doesn't want to return to work in valley, as government is forcing them to go, without any security.

Kashmir Valley To Have Its 1st Multiplex Operational In September

Kashmir Valley will have its first multiplex in September 2022, announced a concerned official on August 14.  The multiplex, being developed in collaboration with leading theatre chain INOX, will have three movie halls with a total capacity of 520 seats, said its owner Vijay Dhar. Furthermore, the operations and management of the property will be looked after by INOX. This is the first multiplex in Kashmir Valley.

Officials Suspend Amarnath Yatra Temporarily, Pilgrims Waits At Camps

Amid heavy rainfall and cloudbursts, Kashmir valley is witnessing bad weather, following which the concerned authority has suspended the 2022 Amarnath Yatra. On July 14, the yatra was temporarily suspended from Pahalgam as well as Baltal routes and no pilgrim was allowed to move toward the holy cave shrine. Earlier, the yatra was stopped on July 8, amid cloudburst, and resumed on July 11.

Two Terrorists Neutralised In J&K's Kulgam Encounter

In an encounter in J&K's Kulgam, security forces eliminated two terrorists, on June 27. The encounter broke out in Nowpora-Kherpora, Trubji area. Further details on the matter is awaited. Earlier in the day, a terrorist was arrested in J&K's Doda, from whom, one Chinese pistol, two magazines, 14 live cartridges and one mobile phone was recovered. So far in 2022, 118 terrorists been neutralised in the Kashmir valley.

Rise In Temperature Brings Respite From Cold Waves: Kashmir

The minimum temperature improved in the Kashmir, which brings some respite from cold wave conditions throughout the valley, as the temperature rose by several notches on January 28 night. The officials have said that Srinagar recorded a low of -1°C, up from -3.6°C, while the Gulmarg recorded -7.5°C from -10.4°C. Notably, Kashmir is going through the harshest period of winter, known as 'Chilai Kalan', which will end in two days.

Kashmir Witnesses Fresh Spell Of Snowfall In Every 2 Days: MeT

Kashmir reported the minimum temperature below freezing, due to which snowfall is to occur every third day from December 26, said MeT Office. The minimum temperature of Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam was recorded -1.8°, -7.5°, and -5.1° Celsius. Currently, Kashmir valley is under the grip of a 40-day 'Chilla-i-Kalan',  a cold wave, which drops the temperature and freezes water bodies.  'Chilla-i-Kalan' will end on January 31, said MeT.

12th Standars Girl Becomes Youngest Author: Kashmir Valley

In South Kashmir's Kulgam district, Bushra Nida, a 12th standard girl, became the youngest author in Kashmir Valley. She published three books, of which, she received awards for her first two books. The books were titled "Tulips of Feelings", "The Davy" and "E=mc2". Reportedly, her third book made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as it was the first properly written book on e=mc2.

400 Yr Old Garden In Kashmir To Be Tagged As World Heritage Site

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Jammu and Kashmir authorities with a non-public agency for the conservation of the Six gardens. The move is to enroll the Mughal Gardens of Kashmir for the UNESCO's World Heritage site. Horticulturists, architects, historians, and conservationists are coming together from all around to conserve the gardens. The government said that being a World Heritage site will boost tourism in the state.
