1st Civilian Plane Lands At Kazakhstan's Almaty Airport After 'Mass Protest'
After the introduction of the state of emergency, the first civilian aircraft landed at Kazakhstan's Almaty airport. The Kazakh city situation got worsened due to the protest over a hike in gas prices. Paramilitary units were guided at the airport and civilian planes were prohibited. The Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan said on January 13, the Almaty airport would resume. Residents of Zhanaozen and Akatu started the mass protest.

Kazakhstan To Hold Astana Talks On Syria After Dec 20
The next round of the Astana talks on Syria is set to be held in Kazakhstan after December 20. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tleuberdi stated that both the Astana process and a meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, and Iran would be hosted by Nur-Sultan. Kazakhstan said that only Russia has sent an official note to attend the talk so far.

France Beat Kazakhstan By 8-0; Qualifies For FIFA WC 2022
France qualified for FIFA World Cup on November 14 by beating Kazakhstan, which will take place next year in Qatar. Kylian Mbappe played a major role in the qualification as he scored four goals, taking the total to 8-0 in the Group D WC qualifier. Moreover, Antoine Griezmann and Adrien Rabiot struck one goal each, while Karim Benzema scored two goals.

Kazakhstan's Rare Animal 'Saiga' Doubles Population In Two-Years
Kazakhstan’s Saiga, a rare type of antelope, has doubled its population to 8,42,000 from 3,34,000 in the last two years. The species were marked as critically endangered in 2015. "They give birth to twins every year, which gives a high potential for the species to quickly recover," said Albert Salengareyev of ACBK. Reportedly, only 1,000 animals were left in 2015 and now it has increased up to 12,000.

Rajnath Singh Holds Defence Talks With Central Asian Countries
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on September 5 held a discussion with his counterparts from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan in Moscow to strengthen defence ties. The Defense Minister tweeted regarding the talks and described the meeting as "productive", "extremely fruitful" and "wonderful". Defense Minister is on his three-day visit to Russia for an important meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
