Nipah Virus Alert: Kerala Government On High Alert
The virus gripped the coastal state of Kerala for the fourth time and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed that it has sought 20 more doses of the anti-body vaccine from Australia. It has also said that the mortality among the infected is very high in the virus (between 40 and 70 per cent) compared to the mortality in Covid, which was 2-3 per cent.

Kerala Govt Launches Mobile Laboratories For Quick Testing Of Nipah Virus Samples
From importing monoclonal antibodies to deploying a mobile biosafety level-3 (BSL-3) laboratory in Kozhikode, the Kerala Government is taking all possible measures to curtail the spread of the deadly Nipah virus, which is rising rapidly in the region. The mobile laboratories were established to speed up the sample testing, which will be crucial to contain the spread of the virus.

Kerala Nipah Virus Alert: 39-Year-Old Tests Positive, Cases Tally At 6
A 39-year-old man in Kerala's Kozhikode district, who had sought treatment at a private hospital where Nipah virus affected were treated for other ailments earlier, has tested positive for the virus, taking the total known Nipah infections in the southern state to six. The zoonotic virus, transmitted between species from animals to humans, has already killed two people in Kerala. The Kerala Government has issued advisory for people.

Kerala Govt Assures Measures For Security Of Health Professionals, Workers
After the recent attack on doctor, the Kerala government announced more measures to assuage their concerns, including setting up of a panel to address the fraternity's long-pending demands. Notably, Dr Vandana Das, a native of Kaduthuruthy area of Kottayam district and the only child of her parents, was stabbed several times. She later succumbed to her injuries. Following the attack, protests erupted in various hospitals across the state.

Kerala Govt Mandates Wearing Masks, Announces Punishment For Violators: COVID-19
Kerala government has made it compulsory to wear masks in public places, workplaces, during transport, and other gatherings. Chief Secretary Dr. V P Joy said on April 27, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 20(3) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, wearing masks will be made mandatory in the state.
