Kerala Train Fire Incident Accused Sent To Judicial Custody
The accused arrested in Kerala Train Fire incident Shahrukh Saifi has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Arrested from Maharashtra, the accused, a resident of Shaheen Bagh, Delhi, allegedly poured fuel on his co-passengers in a running train, which led to the killing of three people and left eight seriously injured. NIA and Anti-Terror Squad are investigating the matter, and sent Saifi for medical treatment.

Afghan Heroin Worth Rs 1,200 Crore Seized From Iranian Vessel; 6 Held In Kerala
The Indian Navy in a joint operation with NCB, seized 200 Kg of Afghan heroin worth Rs 1,200 crore from an Iranian shipping vessel, informed NCB on October 7. According to NCB’s Deputy Director General Sanjay Kumar Singh, six Iranian nationals have been arrested from the vessel. The vessel has been seized, and all the crew members have been arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Customs Seize 3.25 Kg Gold From 3 Instances At Kochi Airport Within 24 Hours
Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the customs department seized around 3.25 Kg gold from passengers on three separate occasions, all from Kochi airport, within 24 hours. The total seizure is estimated to be worth Rs 1.50 crore. In the first instance, 1,257 grams of gold was seized from two passengers. In the second instance, around 200 grams of gold powder was seized. Lastly, 1,783.27 grams was seized from another passenger.

PFI Workers Vandalise Shops, Obstruct Traffic In Kochi
Popular Front of India (PFI) workers allegedly vandalised shops and obstructed traffic in the city of Kochi, as way of protest against the recent arrests of top leaders of the organisation. The police also took custody of five members for the same. Reportedly, the shops were vandalised when refused to be shut down. Meanwhile, violent protests have broken in Kerala, where police have arrested over 500 protestors.

Violent PFI Protests Break Out In Kerala; 500 Arrested, 400 Put In Preventive Detained
The twelve-hour strike called by PFI over the arrests of the organisation’s leaders turned violent in Kerala, on September 23. As a result, as many as 500 persons were arrested and 400 others were put in preventive detention. The protests escalated to stone pelting at an RSS office in Mattannur. Reportedly, some protestors were also arrested for allegedly carrying explosives.

9 PFI Members Arrested In Assam In Join Operation By ED, NIA & Police
Assam police arrested around nine persons linked with Popular Front of India (PFI) on September 22. The join operation was organised by ED, NIA and the state police department. The operation involved 1,500 personnel across 11 states. About 106 PFI members were arrested in total, in an operation that commenced at around 1 pm and concluded at around 5 am.

In a join operation conducted by NIA, ED and the respected state police departments across 11 states, around 106 Popular Front of India (PFI) members were arrested on September 22. The highest number of arrested persons were from Kerala (22), followed by Karnataka (20) and Maharashtra (20). The operation commenced at around 1 am in the night and concluded at around 5 am. The operation involved over 1,500 personnel.

Auto driver Anoop, from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, has won this year’s Onam bumper lottery of Rs 25 crore. Anoop had reportedly purchased the ticket from Bhagavathy Agency on September 17. Reportedly, Anoop is a regular autorickshaw driver, who once worked as a chef. The lucky draw was done by the state Finance Minister KN Balagopal in the presence of transport minister Antony Raju.
