COVID-19: Omicron Cases Reach To 528 In Kerala

Kerala has confirmed 48 new Omicron variant cases on January 15, taking the total infected to 528. The Health Minister Veena George said that out of the 48 cases, 33 came from low-risk countries, two of high-risk nations while nine contracted the disease from their family & four people from other states. However, of the total 528 people, 365 came from low-risk countries, while 92 arrived from high-risk nations.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Condemns 2 Political Murders, Assures Strict Action

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has condemned the murder of two political leaders of the SDPI and BJP on December 19.  He assured of strict action against the accused and said, "Such heinous and inhumane acts of violence are dangerous in states". After the murder of BJP's OBC Morcha secretary Ranjith Sreenivasan, and SDPI state secretary KS Shaan, section 144 was imposed in Alappuzha on December 19.

Kerala To Undergo Full Weekend Lockdown Amid Rise In Covid Cases

Kerala will go under complete weekend lockdown on July 31 and August 1 due to the concerning rise in Covid-19 cases in the state, the Kerala government said July 29. "The central government is sending a six-member team from the National Centre For Disease Control to Kerala," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted. Meanwhile, India has reported 43,509 fresh cases and 640 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Dowry Death: Woman Dies By Suicide At Her In-Law's House

Vismaya V Nair, an Ayurveda doctor was found hanging at her in-law’s house in Kerala on June 21. However, it is an alleged case of death owing to dowry harassment. The 24-year-old doctor and Kiran Kumar were married in May 2020, and repeatedly tortured  by her husband. Several screenshots of her WhatsApp chat clarified that Kiran did not like the car worth Rs. 11 lakh gifted by Nair's father.
