Jayaram Manjithaya Selected as Successor of Kesavananda Bharathi at Edneer Mutt
Edneer Mutt on September 7 announced Jayaram Manjithaya as the successor of Kesavananda Bharathi Swami after his demise on September 6. Jayaram will now be called Sacchidananda Bharathi Swami. The 50-year-old Jayaram is a B.com graduate and was working as Mutt’s administrator for a decade. Reportedly, the official announcement and succession ceremony are scheduled on September 28.

Kerala: Kesavananda Bharti Passes Away at the Age of 79
Kesavananda Bharti (79), the head of Edneer Mutt in Kerala passed away on September 6. He was known for the case that he had filed in 1973 against the Kerala government's land-reform laws. The judgement of this case is a benchmark in history and is referred to as "Kesavananda Bharti Case". The concept of "basic structure doctrine" of the constitution was implemented after this case.
