Lalu Prasad Yadav To Undergo Kidney Transplant, Seeks Passport Renewal & Permission For Foreign Travel

Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav has approached the CBI, seeking for the release of his passport, to travel abroad for kidney transplant. Yadav's lawyer said that once his passport gets renewed, Yadav will most likely got to Singapore for the transplant. He further stated that once the doctor's appointment is fixed, they will seek for permission to travel abroad in all five cases he has been convicted.

Illegal Kidney Transplant Racket Busted In South Delhi, 10 Arrested

An illegal kidney transplant racket has been busted in the Hauz khas area. Police have arrested 10 persons from various places across the city. Reportedly, the racket was run by a doctor and other technicians and helpers. According to the police, they would induce the poor and needy to sell their kidneys and sell it at a higher price. Further details on the matter is awaited.

Pig Kidney Transplanted Into Human; Surgeon Calls It, 'Potential Miracle'

Medical team from United States has succeeded in temporarily transplanting a pig's kidney to a human. The surgeon who performed the surgery described the procedure as a "potential miracle." A genetically modified pig and a brain-dead patient were used in the two-day study. Pig kidneys have been found to be viable in nonhuman primates in previous studies. Pig organ transplantation might provide a "renewable source of organs" in the future.
