There’s no change for KKR’s starting lineup while Sunrisers Hyderabad has brought back Abhishek Sharma in place of Washington Sundar. The KKR have won two out of three games so far and are placed in the third position in the points table.

The Kolkata Knight Rider's all-rounder Shardul Thakur gave a magnificent performance in the IPL match of KKR V/S RCB. Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of KKR gave a standing ovation, when Shardul scored joint fastest half-century in the IPL 2023 so far, with three sixes and eight fours. The KKR V/S RCB match was historic moment for the host team, at Eden Garden, Kolkata, where the team won with 80-runs.

Regarding changing their opening pair, Shreyas Iyer they started off slowly and lost wickets, it was holding up a bit but could not get a good score. KKR has 6 defeats in 9 matches, Delhi Capitals had fourth win in 9 matches.
Shreyas Iyer became the most expensive addition to the team in the marquee set, at IPL 2022 mega auction, in Bengaluru, on February 12. The player was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 12.25 crore. In addition, Delhi Capitals roped in David Warner for Rs 6.25 crore. Only Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and SunRisers Hyderabad were the teams who did not buy any players from the marquee list.

Cricketer Harbhajan Singh announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, on December 24. The Kolkata Knight Riders' off spinner ended his 23-year-long cricket journey. "All good things come to an end and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life. My heartfelt thank you. Grateful," tweeted Singh. Notably, Harbhajan has played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs, 28 T20s, for India.

Dhoni's Super Kings beat Morgan's Knight Riders by 24 runs, winning their 4th IPL title on October 15. KKR was off to a great start, but after Iyer and Gill departed, the game started favouring CSK. Chennai Super Kings came back stronger this season, as compared to the previous one. COVID-19 has now marred the IPL 2021 as the BCCI announced that the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, scheduled on May 3, would be postponed. The decision has been taken after two KKR players, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, tested COVID positive. Moreover, the BCCI has directed the KKR squad to undergo a daily testing routine "to identify any other possible cases".

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan has been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over-rate in their match against Chennai Super Kings on April 22. According to the IPL's official statement, "It was his [Morgan's] team's first offence of the season under the IPL's code of conduct relating to minimum over rate offences". It also stated that Morgan would be banned for one match if the code is violated thrice.
