Indian chess prodigy in rapid format, Koneru Humpy won the second edition of the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year award on March 8. India Makes It To The Finals Of Chess Olympiad for the first time
World Women Rapid Champion, Koneru Humpy defeats Poland's Monika Socko by 2-1 on August 29 and takes team India to the finals in the FIDE Online Chess Olympiad. This is the first time India has qualified for the finals in Chess Olympiad. India lost the first round (2-4) but made a strong comeback in the second (4.5-1.5), and will face the winner between Russia and USA, in the finals.
