Taking a dig at the BJP-led Central Government over pending projects and unfulfilled promises to Telangana, TRS Minister KT Rama Rao wrote an open letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. On May 13, KTR questioned discrimination against Telangana, and favoritism to Gujarat, the hometown of Shah and PM Modi. He also questioned, why Central Government is not approving IT institutes and schools, despite several proposals.

In Telangana, TRS MLAs, MLCs, Working President KT Rama Rao, and others started a statewide protest against the Central Government. They called for dharnas, 'rasta roko' and other agitations, asking for paddy procurement from farmers of Telangana, who cultivated paddy in 35 lakh acres of land, believing the BJP leaders in Telangana, in rabi season. The agitation which started on April 4, will continue till April 11, in Telangana.

Telangana Unit BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind on December 24, objected Munawar Faruqui's Hyderabad show. He criticized KTR and said, "KTR are you a human being? That Munawar Faruqui makes joke on Goddess Sita and his shows were banned in Karnataka". Furthermore, he said they won't let him perform in Hyderabad. After being banned in Karnataka, Munawar Faruqui is scheduled to perform in Hyderabad on January 9.
