BJP Appoints Phunchok Stanzis As President Of Party's Ladakh Unit

The BJP appointed Phunchok Stanzis as BJP President of Ladakh unit, on January 9. National BJP President JP Nadda, took the decision regarding the appointment. "BJP National President Hon'ble Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda appointed Shri Phunchok Stanzis as State President of Ladakh BJP. This appointment comes into immediate effect," said Arun Singh, the National General Secretary of the BJP, in an issued letter.

Advisory For Moderate To Heavy Snowfall Issued In J&K, Ladakh

The Indian Meteorological Department on January 3, issued an advisory for moderate to heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, from tonight, till January 9. The weatherman warned about road and aerial traffic disruptions as well as avalanches, and drop in day temperature. “Light rain/snow would commence at a few places of Kashmir from January 3 evening and thereafter increase in intensity & distribution,” reads the advisory.

Indian Army Receives Israel's Heron Drones For Surveillance Operations

11 Fresh Covid-19 Cases Reported in Ladakh; Active Cases Stand At 58

As per officials, Ladakh reported 11 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total to 20,941. Furthermore, the active cases in the union territory stands at 58. However, since the outbreak of the pandemic, 150 and 58 covid-19 related deaths were reported in Leh and Kargil respectively. Notably, as many as 20,675 individuals have recovered from the virus. Besides, zero fresh cases were reported in Ladakh on October 29.

Ladakh's Zojila Tunnel Likely To Complete A Year Before 2026

The tunnel connecting Leh with Srinagar and the rest of India throughout the year is expected to be completed a year before its target year by 2026, said a senior official of the project, on September 27. Reportedly, this year construction won't be stopped during the winters as well. The 13-kilometre long bi-directional tunnel at a height of over 11,500 feet will cost Rs 4,600 crore to the exchequer.
