Lucknow Metro Uses Langurs' Cutouts To Keep Away Monkeys

To keep away monkeys at metro stations in Lucknow, the metro authorities have placed the cutouts of langurs at nine metro stations in the city. Moreover, metro officials also play voices of 'angry Langur' to scare the mischievous animals. Reportedly, monkeys cause annoyance to the commuters and they also risk their lives while roaming at the metro tracks. However, the new idea has resulted in positive outcomes.

Langurs Are Adapting To Food Habits Of Humans, Finds Study

A study funded by Department of Science and Technology and headed by Calcutta University has observed 'hanuman langurs' are adapting to food-habits of people. Generally used to scare monkeys in cities, the herbivore animal is now eating bread and processed peanuts as they co-exist with humans. Scientists fear that this adaptation might not be good for the langurs in the long run as they may develop diseases due to obese.
