In a search-turned gunfight at Kashmir’s Shopian area, a top commander of Pakistan-based terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed by the security forces on July 19. "A top commander of LeT, Ishfaq Dar alias Abu Akram was neutralised. Akram was active here since 2017," said Vijay Kumar, Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir. Reportedly, another terrorist was also shot, along with the leader.

A Lashkar-e-Taiba shelter was busted by the Jammu and Kashmir police in Pulwama's Pampore town on January 10. Seizing 26 rounds of AK-47, the police arrested a LeT associate terrorist Adil Ahmad Shah. Found in a cowshed, the cops suspected the hideout could be reached using the six feet tunnel discovered. Two militants belonging to the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba surrendered before the security forces during an encounter on December 22. The US Rewards for Justice program released an official statement mentioning that informers of the whereabouts of the 26/11 attacker will be rewarded up to $5 million. According to the statement, any information that would lead to the arrest or conviction of Lashkar-e-Taiba member Sajid Mir will be eligible for the reward. The announcement comes twelve years after the attack where at least 166 people lost their lives.
