In a welfare move, the family of singing legend Lata Mangeshkar is to built her dream building of an old-age home. On July 13, the Swar Mauli Foundation launched the building, which will be constructed by a "secular and non-profit" foundation, The new home in Nashik will be open for old-age artists and people who are home-less announced Mangeshkar's family on the occasion of Guru Purnima.

Dikshita, a Delhi-based makeup artist, shared a video in which she used her makeup skills to transform into Lata Mangeshkar. The artist posted this video on her Instagram account which gained headlines on social media. "Fir iss janam mai...Kaash mulaqat ho. My tribute to Lata Ji," the post captioned. The internet users were stunned by her skills and showered compliments. Notably, Lata Mangeshkar passed away at 92, on January 8.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, on February 6, announced half day holiday, to mourn the demise of Lata Mangeshkar's demise. Addressing a local media, Banerjee said, West Bengal Government will witness half day holiday on February 7. Notably, Ms Mangeshkar died due to multiple organ failure and post COVID-19 complications, on February 6. The Uddhav Thackeray government announced two-day national mourning in memory of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away due to post-COVID complications on February 6.  Government sources said, " A two-day national mourning will now be observed in memory of Lata Mangeshkar on February 6 and 7. The National flag will fly at half-mast for two days". Expressing grief over her demise, PM Modi tweeted,"I am anguished beyond words''.

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar's health is worsening, following which she has been put on ventilator. On February 5, doctors at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai confirmed the same and said, she is undergoing treatment under the doctor's supervision, in the ICU. Notably, Ms Mangeshkar was admitted to the Mumbai hospital, on January 11, after she was diagnosed of COVID-19, following which she also got pneumonia and is undergoing treatment.
